Okay, so I missed Disco week on account of being in Orlando - watched it later, was happy with the results, so there was nothing to report. Now they're back, and it's "Rat Pack" week, and so the guest mentor is Jamie Foxx, of course! Meh? Here are my reactions, before they say stuff about the stuff...
Kris: "the way you look tonight" - this is a great song. arrangement feels too slow, he has a smoothness to his voice that's fo sho - less muppet-like qualities every week. I think he's becoming a real boy, Geppetto!
Alison: "someone to watch over me" - one of my favorites, played at my wedding (sniff sniff) - as good as I think she is, her tone just seemed a bit whiny and scratchy for me for this one. And again, way too slow. Good ending though...
Matt: "My funny valentine" - He looks like king rat of the pack. Flat notes... Good, but so far not good enough to unseat anyone above him. And again, too slow. What is it with these arrangements!
Danny: "come rain or come shine" - Most passion he's exhibited since Hollywood week. Bam! Is he back? Sure seems like it. He attacked that song and made it his you know.
Adam: "feeling good" - he gets points for an arrangement that challenges the "standard" a bit. But I have to say, this one feels a little like "adam's bag of tricks" and doesn't ring as true as some of his other adventures into sonic cheese.
So who's going home? I say even with Simon's ringing endorsement, Matt won't be able to unseat anyone in the front of the "pack"...
