Here are my reactions to the Nine o' Nine - as always, before the judges say what they say. Bring it like you brought it, 'cause it's already been broughten!
Anoop - "Caught Up" by Usher - More like PUsher. This is boring as heck.
Megan - "Turn Your Lights Down Low" by Lauryn Hill - Back in the pocket, it's not enough to blow anyone away, but this is how she do what she do when she do.
Danny - "What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts - His story is so alive and present in this song I can't imagine him not succeeding. He should tell people that his wife used to play the violin.
Allison - "Don't Speak" by No Doubt - This hairstyle makes me think she IS the blind one. She's such an awesome rocker chick. But this song ends up being a little too boring.
Scott - "Just The Way You Are" by Billy Joel - Someone has tamed the mane. If anything, this stripped down routine is pointing out MORE that he doesn't have the vocal chops to compete. As I write this, he just hit that note on the bridge, and now I might be changing my mind. Just a little bit. Did you know he is blind?
Matt - "You Found Me" by The Fray - I'll be singing this on Easter Sunday, so I won't be too harsh on him - not crazy about his melody replacements, and he seems to be growling most of the song - but I did like the falsetto at the end.
Li'l - "I Surrender" by Celine Dion - It's not bad, but it's almost like the weight of the song itself is taking her breath away. She is rushed in the early part, she sings the crap out of it by the end for sure, but is she forcing it?
Adam - "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry - Oh my. He takes great risks with arrangement, risks that the others can only dream of - seriously, to take the pre-chorus down to half time, and then pick it back up - that was just plain smart. He can squeal like a pig, but that wasn't what impressed me the most.
Chris - "Ain't No Sunshine" - One of my favorite songs ever. He was in trouble from the moment he said that he wanted to "make a moment" in the video open. It's amazing how lifelike muppets are nowadays. I don't like what he did to the ""I know I know I know" section, but that's probably just my "l love this song" bias. He probably will fare well with the judges.
Random Thoughts: Paula has been reading up on her music theory terms and is not fooling anyone. Kara - Studio 57? Maybe Heinz 54? She got her gay nightclubs and her steak sauce confused... So who's going home? Anooooooooooooop.
