We're Not Making This Stuff Up

We continue to get all sorts of violent reactions to our Christian/Christ-follower videos, which is fine. But after seeing Scott Hodge's video from his past weekend services at the Orchard church down the road, well, I guess my passion for the topic has been renewed. The difference between an average joe's perception of Jesus vs. Christians is stark. We can do better. Check it out.

Why Should the Christians have all the bad music?

Everything I suspected is true. Read this article from Variety which proves every one of my soapboax speeches about Christianese muzac. And go purchase Carrie Underwood's CD, even if you don't like country music, because Jesus Take The Wheel should be played on all radio stations as one of the most overtly-drawn hard-hitting surrender-to-Jesus songs I've ever heard, and the fact that Christian Radio won't play it makes me sick.

Making More

Christian_christ_followerSherry Gossman reports in her blog that the church in Omaha where she serves finally showed one of our Mac and PC parody videos. Nice. A bunch of people have been showing them in a bunch of churches and I think it's kind of cool.

In fact, the Mac and PC parody videos are going to be a big part of the Exponential Conference in April, which also masquerades as the National New Church Conference. But for fun, we've decided to make a couple of new ones for the conference.

It was funny to me that we have already started debating the new scripts based on whether or not we would offend anyone. Given the kind of feedback we've received from the old ones on youtube, I'm amazed that the thought even entered our mind. But, I guess we're gluttons for punishment.

Those of you who have seen other Apple commercials, and have a sense of our twisted sense of humor, do you have any ideas for new parodies? We're always open to ideas - remember, there are no bad ideas, only bad people...

The First Official Statement

Well, after weeks and weeks of silence, the press finally got to us. Tom Greever, Media Guru and producer of the Mac vs. PC Parodies, has completed an interview with one of his media buddies for his blog. You can check out the interview here. It's the first official interview from any of us regarding the recent phenomenon, with the exception of all the times I've wanted to rant and rave during a comment-reading session, but held my typing in check... I was pretty funny to myself... enjoy all...

More Buzz

Thanks to KAT for pointing me towards another site that has posted the Christian No More videos, and has generated no less than 59 comments about them. Wow. I am amazed and know not what to say, to quote Shakespeare... plenty of people who didn't get it - plenty who did. Plenty who thought that it was funny, plenty who didn't...

But here's a comment from an Atheist who "got it." Now if only he will "get it." Be praying...

Mike Says:

If anyone cares to hear a few thoughts from a sympathetic atheist, I would say to those of you who are the overly J-happy types: no matter how much you think you are worshipping your God you are driving more people away from Christ than drawing them nearer.

Please don’t try to use the above fact as part of some [ :) —admin]-backwards ‘proof’ along the lines of many being called but few chosen… etc.

This is just about plainly not emulating what Jesus was trying to accomplish during his (fictional or not) lifetime.

Jesus was not like the guy on the left, who chastises his brother about his plain-looking clothes, or lack of identifying badge/jewelry. Rewatch the first video and see who is criticizing who.

And please… do tell… how many of those several thousand who attended the original Sermon on the Mount had their handy bibles and hymn books to follow what the preacher said? Uh-huh. Thought so.

The whole point of these videos is plain as daylight to any of us outsiders. Your own benevolent co-believers are telling you to loosen up, but you are so wound up into your way of worshiping and honoring Christ you’d probably chastise Christ himself for being unshaven.

What I read from the story of Christ’s message was about humility, love, compassion, and basically getting along with the system (rendering to Caesar, slaves obeying masters, etc) and letting your non-believing neighbors be persuaded by your example, not by overly-professing words, or public prayers, or holier-than-thou fetish props.

None of us outsiders are at any risk of being converted by the guy on the left. The guy on the right is much more dangerous: he actually seems NICE.

So have a good day, all of you. Be healthy. And enjoy long lives, even the prudish ones!

It's a Hit!

Christfollower Hey all. Well, as can be expected, people are going ga-ga over our latest video, the series video for the "Christian No More" series. It's pretty hysterical, and there are still three "episodes" left to appear... I posted the youtube upload a few days ago...

Steve Brewer, our IT and Communications wizard at CCC, made the video available for purchase at CCC's e-store in record time. You can buy it, download it, and show it at your church. Enjoy, and if you do wanna buy it, click here!
