Wow, is it that time already? Once more we delve into the depths of American Idol-land, this week goes to eleven... and they're bringing country back, yep. Tonight I have decided to keep my comments regarding each performer limited to one short sentence (or even a fragment). We'll see how disciplined I end up being over time, but as always, I comment before I hear the dulcet tones of our inimitable judges... And away we go!
Randy Travis is helping them - yet another Christian presence in American Idol-land...
Michael Sarver: "Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes up" - Confident Calm Caraoke.
Allison Iraheta: "Blame It On Your Heart" - She good singing is at, like her she's so sixteen too.
Kris Allen: "To Make You Feel My Love": Cheating to sing a Bob Dylan tune but he found the rainbow connection.
Lil' Rounds: "Independence Day" - Girl Can Sing - verses lacked but Chorus flat out rocked.
Adam Lambert: "Ring of Fire" - "I don't even know what to say about this boy." -Randy Travis
Scott MacIntyre: "Wild Angels" - He is comfortable in his own skin. And he's blind. Nice job.
Alexis Grace: "Jolene" - She looks more like Dolly Parton than I had originally noticed (with a couple exceptions...)
Danny Gokey: "Jesus Takes The Wheel" - Jesus take the coat too (keep the vocals though.)
Anoop Desai: "Always On My Mind" - Mind-numbingly slow arrangement, didn't get into it.
Megan Joy: "Walking After Midnight" - A good pick but it won't be enough for her, too quirky without substance.
Matt Giraud: "So Small" - Great performance, but he's more Vince Vaughan than he is Justin Timberlake.
Gonna be tough to pick someone to go home, but it feels like a week where even if Megan goes home, they might pull the Judges-save. Great performances by a bunch of peeps with no clear loser in sight, especially since Adam's freakshow won't be considered a vote loser. I'm putting money on Anoop or Lil' saying goodbye. And they will save Lil' but I can't imagine them using it on Anoop AGAIN.
