Cubs - the best in the league!

Cubs enter June with the best record in the league- last time that happened? 1908! Let's win it all again!

UFC - Abraham and Sarah

Here's a great video from last weekend's service. I got several unsolicited compliments from attenders about it, which is always good to hear. It takes an irreverent look at the story of Abraham and Sarah through the filter of the UFC: The Ultimate Family Challenge. Look for this weekend's "David and Absalom" story at a 3C Campus near you!

Cubs Win in Winter

NOTE: I thought I posted this form my bberry at Wrigley last night - but apparently it didn't go through. Here it is in its brevity...

Nothing like a game at Wrigley - I'm here right now and the crisp clean air just foreshadows the awesomeness of this coming October. Even if it is almost June.

Will someone please call off Al Gore? Obviously the whole global warming thing has worked. It's time to start spraying those aerosol cans and get back to weather that somewhat resembles "almost June."

Cubs Win!

Who's Anna?

Faa_halloween_07_pic4This weekend I had the pleasure of leading worship at NNHS, one of our campus locations, which also happens to be two blocks away from my house. And if you've been keeping track, I was also doing so while my wife was in Florida, which means that I brought the kids with me to the rehearsal, which started at 7am. Yikes!

It went really well, they were very well behaved, and a good time was had by all. But the best part was during the rehearsal for "Hosanna." You know the one, says over and over again "Hosanna". Now we're from Chicago so we say "HosANna" with a "hard a", not with an "auhh".

So while sitting on my lap, as I'm rehearsing the song, my daughter Anna (age 3) says to me "Dad... is this song about me?"

"who's Anna, Who's Anna... Who's Anna in the Highest..."

Here's a picture of Anna from Halloween this year, just so you can get a handle on how ridiculously cute this moment was...

Indiana Jones - spoiler alert

Okay, just saw Indiana Jones, and I loved every part of it except for the final reveal of the mystery of the crystal skull itself.

They tried to pass it off with an inside joke (harrison ford says "I've got a bad feeling about this..."), but it still came off as old a fascination for spielberg as indy was in this movie. I half expected richard dryfess to step out and start building with mash potatoes, and for john williams to start scoring for Close Encounters part two...

Oh well. It was still a good movie. Oh, and Prince Caspian was great! Happy Memorial Day...

Florida and the Dentist

I'm in the waiting room of my dentist, with my three children. We all have appointment. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, my wife is out on a "girls from the small group" getaway to Naples Florida.

So for those of you keeping score at home, that means that while scheduling her trip to Florida, my lovely wife thought it would be a great trade off to send me and the kids to the dentist at the same time.

But I'm not complaining! Just merely noting the irony...

American Idol and Rick Warren

Quite a dissapointing showing last night, as one David simply didn't have enough gas in the tank.

And I did not see or hear from Rick Warren today. He must be busy...

UFC - Cain and Abel

Here is our latest video - the first in a series of "re-interpretations" of Bible stories viewed through the lens of the "Ultimate Family Challenge." - enjoy!

Caspian and Coyotes

Heading to the multiplex this afternoon to see Prince Caspian. Looking forward to it, as Dillon and I just finished reading the book. But this morning, across the street, our local coyote was stolling through the neighborhood. Yes, that's right, in suburban Naperville, a wild coyote moves around the neighborhood like he owns the place. Very strange indeed.

What is one supposed to do when confronted by a coyote? I'm guessing running isn't a good idea, but is it like a bear or a cougar where you're supposed to act as "big" as you can and scare the animal into indifference? Just curious in case Wile E. wants a ride to soccer practice...

Cubs and Jim Edmonds

Once again, I'll paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld: Welcome, Jim Edmonds. As a Cubs fan, clearly I'm only rooting for laundry...
